Four aces are removed from the deck.  The ace of spades is placed into a signed envelope.  The remaining three aces are each covered with four indifferent cards.  The three aces then vanish, and the packet of "indifferent cards" is put away in the card box. The signed envelope is then shown to contain four . . . jacks!  When the face-down deck is spread, there in the center are four face-up . . . jacks!  When the card case is opened, 12 cards are found inside as expected, but they are no longer "indifferent," they are now 12 . . . jacks!  Finally, the remainder of the deck is spread face up to reveal . . . all jacks!
